Data Governance Manager

Key Responsibilities:

As a Data Governance Manager, you will be at the forefront of our data governance and management efforts. Your role will involve developing and implementing data processes, ensuring data quality, and supporting cross-functional teams in their data-related initiatives.

•  Data Governance Framework: Develop and implement a robust data governance framework that aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Data Policies and Standards: Define, document, and communicate data governance policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure consistent data management practices.
• Data Quality Management Conduct data quality assessments and implement data cleansing and validation processes to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
• Data Privacy: Work closely with IT, Compliance, and legal teams to ensure data security and compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Metadata Management: Oversee the development and maintenance of metadata catalogs, data dictionaries, and data ERD documentation.
• Data Stewardship: Appoint and collaborate with data stewards responsible for specific data domains or assets.
• Data Compliance Reporting: Prepare and submit data compliance reports to regulatory authorities as required.
• Data Education and Training: Provide training and support to employees to enhance data literacy and awareness of data governance best practices.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enforce data governance policies and drive data quality improvements.

Candidate Qualifications:

Business Knowledge/Technical Skills:

•  Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Information Management, Compliance, Business, Computer Science).
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related role.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles and data quality best practices.
• Experience with data privacy regulations and compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Proficiency in data governance tools and frameworks.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Knowledge of data integration tools, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
• Familiarity with data management software and tools is a plus.
• Experience in the insurance/financial industry is a plus.

  For experience Data Governance with 6+ years:

• Extensive experience in implementing data governance frameworks in complex environments.
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance related to data management and privacy.
• Demonstrated success in establishing and leading data governance programs.
• Advanced understanding of data governance tools and technologies.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
• In-depth knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable 'big data' data stores.
• Experience in building and optimizing 'big data' data governance frameworks and processes.
• Proficiency in using data governance tools and platforms to ensure data compliance and quality.
• Strong knowledge of data integration tools, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
• Strong knowledge of data management software and tools.
• DAMA Certified is a plus
